Life on the Road (Almost): When Plans Change

Retirement and RV living is all about flexibility—rolling with the unexpected and adapting as life unfolds around you. We had big plans to kick off our cross-country adventure last week, hitting the road in our RV and heading west to explore the vast beauty of the U.S. But as often happens, life had other ideas.

Our journey is currently on pause due to a few unexpected detours. One of our horses has developed lameness in her left rear leg. It’s heartbreaking to see her in pain, and our focus right now is getting her the care she needs. We’ve been spending time with the vet, developing a treatment and recovery plan to get her back on her feet—literally.

Meanwhile, Benny—our gentle giant of a Bernese Mountain Dog—is also getting some extra attention. He has some work to do here on the East Coast while we stay put a little longer than planned.

So for now, our wheels are staying still. But that's part of this lifestyle—learning to embrace the slowdowns and take care of what matters most. The road isn’t going anywhere, and when the time is right, we’ll be ready to chase that horizon once again.

Stay tuned—more adventures (and a departure date) to come. Last week, we had a beautiful visitor: a large hawk surveying the wide array of bunnies residing around the rig.
