We hit the road from South Dakota, licenses fresh in hand and a new address to match—ready to chase down some epic landscapes.

First stop: the breathtaking Zion National Park. It’s been a while since we were here, so we spent a couple of days reacquainting ourselves with its dramatic cliffs and quiet trails. We embarked on a hike to Upper Emerald Pool, which was a new experience for us and certainly left a strong impression. On our way down to the Lower Pool, we captured some breathtaking video footage.

The wildlife was abundant, with deer peacefully grazing and wild turkeys strolling along the paths as if they owned the area. The best part? We finally started setting up our YouTube channel! 🎥 Check it out here: @where2Rvin. Subscribe to get a front-row seat to all our upcoming adventures—we've got some awesome footage in the works.

From Zion to California: Classic Diners planned, but then Desert Heat wins

After soaking in the magic of Zion, it was time to roll westward. Next destination: the retro gem Peggy Sue’s 50s Diner in California. But first, a quick fuel-up in Nevada before the price hikes in California for diesel.

When we reached the diner, the thermostat was cranked to 104°F. That kind of heat means one thing in an RV: run the generator or melt. After weighing our options (and checking the night’s temperature map like weather nerds), we made the call—push on to San Diego.

What followed was a marathon drive through California heat and San Diego traffic—our longest stretch yet at 9.5 hours. But honestly? The Western Star handled it like a dream. No aches, no burnout—just smooth cruising and great views.

Hello, Sunshine!

Arriving in San Diego was like hitting the reset button. Perfect temps, blue skies, and sunshine that wraps around you like a hug.  felt like pressing the reset button. The ideal temperatures, clear blue skies, and sunshine enveloped us like a warm embrace. The highlight was reconnecting with Justin and Lily.
